IELTS Academic – For those who do not know, the IELTS test has two kinds of test systems. The first one is the IELTS General test and the other one is the IELTS Academic test. For the general test, you will be required to take this test if your purpose is to live and work in the destination country. Usually, the difficulty level on this test is also considered lower than the academic test.

As for the academic test, you will be required to take this test if your purpose is to apply on higher educations. Compared to the general test, the difficulty level on this academic test is considered higher. Despite the difficulty level, the IELTS test can be conducted in 120 countries across the whole world. So, by taking the IELTS test is the same as broadening your chance of getting a better future in the destination country or the developed country.

The format of the IELTS test

IELTS Academic – Both of the general and academic tests have four sections. The first section is the IELTS listening section. In this section, you will be given 40 questions with 30 minutes to complete them. As for the second section is the IELTS speaking section. In this section, you will undergo an interview within 15 minutes. There will be 3 parts in this section which you will have to complete. The next section is the IELTS reading section. In this section, the subject between general and academic is different.

The subject in general test is short and factual texts and usually, have work issue in it. On the other hand, the subject in the academic test is longer and the texts are all analytical and discursive. Usually the texts are all taken from books and journals. The last section is the IELTS writing section. In the general test, you will have to write a letter in requesting information or to explain a situation and to write an essay in response to an argument or a problem. While in the academic test, you will have to describe or explain the data from the chart or diagram and to write a formal essay in response to an argument or a problem.
